Marco Rubio is a man who, when on the stage, looks Presidential. That being said, I fundamentally disagree with him on just about everything. He's voted against stem cell research. He has stated there is no responsible way to recreationally use marijuana. He thinks humans have no affect on the climate.

I do agree with him on revamping the outdated educational system. I also agree that gun laws simply don't work. He has also stated that all children should get vaccinated.

There are probably 2 candidates on the Republican stage that I would personally vote for. Marco Rubio is not one of them. If he were to win the Oval Office, he could eventually be the Obama of the Republican Party. That works for the right, but not for the left. He looks Presidential and could win the nomination if given the time to speak. In short, this man worries me.

The Left's Opinion

He was elected during the 2010 wave election as one of the Tea Party's favorites. He has a strong conservative record and passionately defends conservative values. However, there are some caveats here. There have been reports about his personal financial struggles with spending. Obviously that would not bode well for attacking the enormous debt our next president will have to deal with.

In all he has a strong, articulate message and a powerful back story. He has spent his time in DC judiciously thus far, building bridges to the big money players while maintaining his conservative record. His executive experience and ability to craft a broader national message have yet to be tested however. As all major sports teams always seek to 'get younger' so has the GOP and Marco Rubio is fast becoming the poster boy to that aim.
