Ted Cruz is the most "Christian" and probably the most "conservative" of all the candidates. Nothing he says out loud makes me want to vote for him. As a liberal member of society, everything he says turns me off more. He is not moderate in any way, shape, or form. I'm surprised he isn't polling better because he is so conservative.
They say the best way to win an election is to find someone who can charge up the base but still win the moderates. Ted Cruz cannot do that.
On a stage debating social issues with a Democratic candidate, the media would have a field day with it. The moderates would flock to the polls for Democrats. Ted Cruz is probably best fitted where he is right now in the Senate. He has a voice but not a following.
The Left's Opinion
The Right's Opinion
Ted Cruz has done something very few elected officials can say they have done. He did what he said he was going to do. Ted Cruz campaigned as a fierce and unabashed conservative in an underdog race for the Texas senate seat against a sitting lieutenant governor. He promised to fight against Obamacare, illegal immigration and the Washington DC establishment.
Senator Cruz has kept his promise thus far by vocally and stubbornly standing for freedom every chance he gets. Conservative review has him ranked the second highest on their 'liberty score' scale with a 96%. He is behind only his fellow Tea Party member, Senator Mike Lee. Senator Cruz was also the first GOP candidate to announce his run for the white house. During the first week of his campaign he raised just over four million dollars. An astonishing feat for someone whom the media says isn't 'electable'. If Ted Cruz can keep up his fundraising efforts and wield his Tea Party support with accuracy, he will be a candidate to be reckoned with.
