Greg Hardy is a Dirt Bag

The pictures from Greg Hardy's 2014 assault case came out this past weekend. I know this all happened 18 months ago but pictures change conversations. It is one thing to hear about something and another to see it. To this point, there were questions surrounding the woman and her integrity. The pictures showed us something important however, Greg Hardy is a dirt bag. The photos were gruesome and graphic. Shame on the Cowboys for signing him and allowing someone like that to have a platform. Furthermore, not only did Jerry sign him, he called him a leader! Seriously? How, in today's hyper equality conscious world, can a man that beat the crap out of a woman be called a leader? For perspective, let us examine how the NFL and it's players reacted to Tom Brady. You would have thought the guy killed his grandmother based on the way he was treated. He became a pariah, a scumbag and a cheat. What was his crime? He deflated some footballs. The blatant hypocrisy and double standard here is glaring. Does anyone else remember all of those 'no more' commercials we were subjected to during last season? All of those melodramatic players/coaches that stood there saying 'no more'. They were 'speaking out' against domestic abuse, meanwhile the poster child for domestic abuse, won his appeal and got away with a slap on the wrist. Where are the fellow NFL players and coaches to speak out against this? Where are his fellow players calling on him to take accountability for his actions? What Jerry Jones did by calling Greg Hardy a leader, was legitimize his actions. He, along with all of the silent players and coaches including the NFL itself, legitimize his behavior. I take serious issue with these individuals that enable him and coddle him. We as a country should promote a culture of personal responsibility, that practices self discipline and respect. Maybe if we held ourselves accountable, we would have less of these issues to begin with. Evil prevails when good folks do nothing. As long as we allow this kind of behavior to not only continue but be rewarded, we will end up in decline. When a nation lowers its standards, it teeters on a slippery slope. Rome was not conquered by an outside enemy, it conquered itself. We as Americans need to hold higher standards for ourselves, lest we become like Rome and die from within.
